È difficile poter affermare con
sicurezza da quale località ha avuto origine la diffusione del cognome
COLAJANNI in Italia.
Ma possiamo proporre un’ipotesi
e tentare di supportarla:

maggioranza dei Colaianni, sono: Abruzzo, Lazio, Lombardia, Puglia e Sicilia.

Se proponiamo la Puglia e Bari
come luogo d’origine proviamo a suffragare l’ipotesi:

terra (i paesi) di Bari, e sia gli uomini, sia le donne sono stati
deportati come schiavi in Sicilia (Lupo Protospata).
1607:
in Bari vi è un periodo di carestia in cui muoiono 3000 persone.
1656-57: in Bari una terribile peste durata otto
mesi fa morire 12.462 persone, quasi la totale popolazione.
L’Abruzzo è sempre stata normale terra di
transumanza e potrebbe essere strato normale per un Pugliese
trasferirvisi.
Il Lazio con Roma “Caput mundi”
e la Lombardia con Milano, non credo abbisogni di motivazioni essendo
noti punti di attrazione.
Vista la diffusione e concentrazione attuale sul
territorio del cognome Colaianni e di ogni altra variante di Colajanni ad esempio Calianno,
potrebbe non essere errata la supposizione che l’origine del nostro
cognome in Italia sia la Puglia e Bari.
Ma
occorre anche precisare che il cognome Colajanni ha origini greche e che
Bari ha subito dal 554 al 1071 la dominazione dell’Impero Bizantino e
nel 876 divenne capoluogo e nel 970 sede del Catapanato del “Thema di
Longobardia” (tutti i possedimenti bizantini nella penisola italica).
